No. 12 Cal U blanks Slippery Rock, 1-0

CALIFORNIA (Sept. 16) – Freshman Djamel Boudhar (Stuggart, Germany/Oscar-Partet) recorded his first career goal in the 22nd minute on Friday afternoon, as the No. 12 California University of Pennsylvania men's soccer team opened Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) play with a 1-0 win against Slippery Rock at the new Soccer Facility.

With the victory, the Vulcans improve to 6-0-1 overall with a 1-0-0 mark in league action and extended their scoreless streak to over 655 minutes behind seven-consecutive shutouts. Meanwhile, The Rock falls to 2-2-0 this season with a 1-1-0 record conference play.

Boudhar tallied the game-winning goal at the 21:39-mark off an assist from junior Paul Silvestrone (Vaughan, Ontario/Cardinal Center), who now leads the team with seven points (three goals, one assist).

Redshirt senior goalkeeper Charlie Dagnal (Carnegie, Pa./Carlynton) posted his sixth shutout of the season after establishing a career high with nine saves on Friday. Slippery Rock's Timothy White finished with two saves in 90 minutes of action.

The two teams combined for 15 shots attempts with Cal U holding a 9-6 advantage. The game also featured a combined 30 fouls and each team was issued two yellow cards.
