LOCK HAVEN, Pa. (Nov. 11) – The California University of Pennsylvania volleyball team will be making its sixth appearance in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Championship in the last seven years after posting a 3-1 victory (25-20, 25-16, 23-25, 25-22) over West Chester on Friday evening in the semifinals of the league tournament.
With the win, the Vulcans improve to 30-4 overall to mark their eighth 30-win season in recent program history (since 1990). Cal U will now face host Lock Haven tomorrow, Saturday, Nov. 12 in the title game at 5 p.m. The Bald Eagles advanced to the championship by rallying to a 3-2 victory over defending-PSAC Champion Clarion after dropping the first two games.
Junior middle hitter
Meghan Franz (Cranberry Twp., Pa./Seneca Valley) was one of three Vulcans to finish with double-digit kills on Friday, recording a team-high 15. Classmates
Kelly Fromknecht (Erie, Pa./McDowell) and
Brandy Harris (Bedford, Pa./Bedford) finished with 13 and 12 kills, respectively, while fellow junior
Chelsea Wilson (Bellwood, Pa./Bellwood Antis) posted nine kills on only 15 attempts for a team-best .600 hitting percentage. Senior setter
Kortney Eshleman (Greencastle, Pa./Greencastle) registered her third double-double of the season after collecting a season-high 45 assists and 11 digs.

Sara McMullen (State College, Pa./State College) tallied a team-high 18 digs, while Harris and sophomore
Molly Delaney (Carmel, Ind./Westfield) each finished with nine digs in the win. Franz and Delaney combined for seven blocks against the Golden Rams on Friday.
Cal U and Lock Haven, both top seeds in this year's tournament, will be meeting in the PSAC Championship for the fifth time in the last seven years (2005, 2006, 2008, 2009).
