WASHINGTON, D.C. (Oct. 8) – The No. 8 Vulcans recorded their third tie of the 2011 season after battling to a 1-1 double-overtime draw at District of Columbia in non-conference action on Saturday afternoon.
With the tie, the California University of Pennsylvania men's soccer team moves to 9-1-3 this season, while UDC is now 6-3-2 overall.
The Firebirds took a 1-0 lead in the 16th minute when freshman Bakary Coulibaly scored off an assist from sophomore Jose Garcia. Less than three minutes later, freshman
Brad Colvin (Erie, Pa./Cathedral Prep) tied the game at 1-1 with his third goal of the year (unassisted) at the 19:15-mark. The two teams then were unable to break the tie in the ensuing 90-plus minutes of action, including the two overtime periods.

Charlie Dagnal (Carnegie, Pa./Carlynton) finished with three saves on Saturday, while the Firebirds' Kyle Heatherington recorded 13 saves in 110 minutes of action.
Cal U out-shot UDC by a 22-11 margin in the game and posted a 10-1 advantage in corner kicks. The physical double-overtime contest featured a combined 28 fouls and a staggering nine yellow cards, including five issued to the Firebirds.
