Brandy Harris (Bedford, Pa./Bedford) established a career high with 23 kills and classmate
Meghan Franz (Cranberry Twp., Pa./Seneca Valley) tied her career high with 15 kills on Tuesday night, as the California University of Pennsylvania volleyball team earned a 3-2 victory (26-24, 21-25, 25-14, 21-25, 15-11) over Wheeling Jesuit at Hamer Hall.
With the win, the Vulcans improve to 15-3 overall and have now won the last 10 meetings against the Cardinals dating back to the 2004 season. Meanwhile, Wheeling Jesuit falls to 14-3 after entering action on a 10-match winning streak.
Harris finished the match with 23 kills on 55 attempts, both career highs, for a .309 hitting percentage. Her 23 kills rank as the highest single-match total by a Cal U player since
Joanna Nist recorded 24 kills at Ashland in 2009. Harris also totaled 13 digs against the Cardinals, marking her fourth double-double of the season (fifth career).
Franz posted 15 kills on 39 attempts for a team-best .323 hitting percentage and added eight blocks on Tuesday. Sophomore
Molly Delaney (Carmel, Ind./Westfield) finished with a double-double for the second-straight match, tallying 11 kills and 18 digs at Hamer Hall. Junior
Kelly Fromknecht (Erie, Pa./McDowell) directed the offense with 28 assists and sophomore
Abbey Freund (Cottage Grove, Wis./Monona Grove) added 14 assists in the win.

Sara McMullen (State College, Pa./State College) set a season high with 22 digs and Delaney and Harris added 18 and 13 digs, respectively.
The Vulcans return to conference play this weekend with four matches in two days, starting on Friday, Oct. 7, in Shippensburg, Pa., against East Stroudsburg and the host Red Raiders.
