EDINBORO, Pa. (Oct. 25) – The No. 4 California University of Pennsylvania women's soccer team secured the first regular-season Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) title in program history on Tuesday evening with a 3-1 victory at No. 17 Edinboro.
With the win, the Vulcans improve to 14-0-2 overall and leads the PSAC standings with 35 points behind an 11-0-2 mark in league action. Cal U has now clinched hosting rights for the quarterfinal round of the PSAC Tournament on Nov. 1 and would host the semifinals (Nov. 4) and championship (Nov. 5) if it advances. Meanwhile, the Fighting Scots fall to 13-4-0 this season with a 10-4-0 record in conference play (30 points).

Chelsea Crockett (Gilmanton, N.H./Gilford), who was named the PSAC Athlete of the Week yesterday, scored her eighth goal of the year (unassisted) in the 67th minute. Edinboro cut into the deficit in the closing minutes of the game when Samantha Kaiser scored off a feed from Steph Tighe at the 85:23-mark, 3-1.
Senior goalkeeper
Paula Jackson (Kingston, Jamaica/Wolmer's Trust) earned her 13th win of the season after making one save in 90 minutes of action. Fighting Scots' Meghan Kelly posted five saves in the losing effort.
The Vulcans finished with a 17-13 advantage in shots, including an 8-2 edge in shots on goal, while the Fighting Scots held a 4-1 margin in corner kicks.
Cal U closes out the regular season on Saturday, Oct. 29, when it hosts Shippensburg at 3 p.m. on Senior Day. With a win or tie this weekend, the Vulcans would record their first unbeaten regular season in school history.
