CALIFORNIA (Oct. 18) – Playing its third match in five nights, the California University of Pennsylvania volleyball team earned a 3-0 sweep (25-14, 25-19, 25-18) over IUP at Hamer Hall on Tuesday night in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) West action.
With the win, the Vulcans improve to 22-4 overall with a 12-2 record in league play. Meanwhile, the Crimson Hawks drop to 9-16 this season behind a 3-10 mark in divisional action.
Junior
Bridget Bielich (Bethel Park, Pa./Bethel Park) led the offense with eight kills on 15 attempts for a .333 hitting percentage. Sophomore
Molly Delaney (Carmel, Ind./Westfield) added six kills, while the junior trio of
Kelly Fromknecht (Erie, Pa./McDowell),
Brandy Harris (Bedford, Pa./Bedford) and
Chelsea Wilson (Bellwood, Pa./Bellwood Antis) each collected five kills on Tuesday. Junior
Meghan Franz (Greencastle, Pa./Greencastle) finished with four service aces and four kills against the Crimson Hawks.

Sara McMullen (State College, Pa./State College) finished with 12 and 10 digs, respectively, while senior
Kortney Eshleman (Greencastle, Pa./Greencastle) and Harris both added eight digs. Eshleman also tallied 10 assists in her sixth match of the season and sophomore
Abbey Freund (Cottage Grove, Wis./Monona Grove) posted a team-high 12 assists.
The Vulcans return to action on Friday, Oct. 21, with their last road match of the regular season when they travel to face Edinboro at 7 p.m.
