CALIFORNIA (Sept. 7) – The California University of Pennsylvania volleyball team earned its first victory of the season, and 31st straight at Hamer Hall, by defeating Findlay (Ohio) 3-1 (25-16, 24-26, 25-23, 25-16) in the home-opener. The Vulcans (1-4) were victorious in the first, third and fourth games, winning those contests 25-16, 25-23 and 25-16. The Oilers' (3-2) lone set win came in the second game by a score of 26-24.

Kelly Fromknecht (Erie, Pa./McDowell) tallied eight kills. Junior outside hitter
Katya Kopanarova (Sofia, Bulgaria/81 Victor Hugo) added nine kills. Junior setter
Kortney Eshleman (Greencastle, Pa./Greencastle) posted a season-high 45 assists in the match.

Sara McMullen (State College, Pa./State College) recorded a career-high 21 digs and senior defensive specialist

The Vulcans return to action on Friday, Sept. 10, traveling to Highland Heights, Ky. to compete in the Northern Kentucky Tournament. On Friday, Cal U will face Bellarmine (Ky.) before facing host Northern Kentucky and Wisconsin-Parkside on Saturday.
