Lock Haven edges past Cal U, 1-0

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. (Sept. 25) – Senior goalkeeper Derek Yobbi (South Park, Pa./South Park) made five saves, but it wasn't enough as Cal U suffered a 1-0 loss at Lock Haven in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) play on Saturday afternoon.

With the loss, the Vulcans drop to 4-2-1 overall while posting a 1-2-1 record in conference games. Meanwhile, the Bald Eagles improve to 3-5-2 on the season and 2-3-1 against PSAC opponents.

The only goal of the game was scored at the 55th minute when Bald Eagle Martin Pletz took a pass from teammate Terence Gochera and drove it past Yobbi.

Freshman Christopher Karns (Mars, Pa./Mars) led the Vulcans with three shots and three other teammates tallied two shots apiece. For the game, Cal U held a slim 10-9 shot advantage.

The Vulcans return to action on Tuesday, Sept. 28 when they host Ohio Valley (W.Va.) at Roadman Park for a non-conference game starting at 4 p.m.
