CALIFORNIA (Nov. 5) – In a preview of a match in next week's Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Tournament, the California University of Pennsylvania volleyball team suffered a 3-1 loss (25-14, 16-25, 26-24, 25-19) to Edinboro on Friday night in league play at Hamer Hall.
With the loss, the Vulcans drop to 20-11 overall with a 14-4 conference mark. Meanwhile, the Fighting Scots improve to 26-4 this season behind a 16-2 record in league action. The victory clinches the second seed from the PSAC West for Edinboro, who will host third-seeded Cal U on Tuesday, Nov. 9, in the quarterfinals of the PSAC Tournament.

Niki Keno (Connellsville, Pa./Connellsville) led the offensive attack with 11 kills and a .320 hitting percentage, while classmate
Brandy Harris (Bedford, Pa./Bedford) added eight kills. Fellow sophomore
Chelsea Wilson (Bellwood, Pa./Bellwood Antis) finished with seven kills, while
Kelly Fromknecht (Erie, Pa./McDowell) and
Katya Kopanarova (Sofia, Bulgaria/81 Victor Hugo) each tallied six kills. The trio of junior
Kortney Eshleman (Greencastle, Pa./Greencastle), freshman
Abbey Freund (Cottage Grove, Wis./Monona Grove) and Fromknecht directed the offense with 34 assists, led by 14 assists from Freund.

Julie Paronish (Hastings, Pa./Northern Cambria) registered a team-high 14 digs and junior defensive specialist
Sara McMullen (State College, Pa./State College) finished with seven digs. Sophomore
Meghan Franz (Cranberry Twp., Pa./Seneca Valley), who received ESPN Academic All-District honors yesterday, recorded seven digs (two solo) in the loss.
Cal U concludes its regular season tomorrow, Saturday, Nov. 6, when it hosts Mercyhurst at Hamer Hall at 1 p.m. The Vulcans will recognize their two seniors – Paronish and
