EDINBORO, Pa. (Nov. 19) – The California University of Pennsylvania volleyball team extended its win streak over IUP to 14 matches with a 3-0 sweep (25-15, 25-22, 25-23) at McComb Fieldhouse on Friday evening in the first round of the NCAA Division II Atlantic Regional Tournament.
With the victory, the Vulcans improve to 22-12 overall this season and will face host Edinboro tomorrow, Saturday, Nov. 20, at 7:30 p.m. in the regional semifinals. Meanwhile, the Crimson Hawks finish the season at 21-11 overall after making their first NCAA Tournament since 2006.

Brandy Harris (Bedford, Pa./Bedford) posted a team-high 14 kills while hitting at a season-best .542 clip. Classmates
Meghan Franz (Cranberry Twp., Pa./Seneca Valley) and
Kelly Fromknecht (Erie, Pa./McDowell) finished with 11 and eight kills, respectively, while freshman
Molly Delaney (Carmel, Ind./Westfield) added seven kills. Junior setter
Kortney Eshleman (Greencastle, Pa./Greencastle) and Fromknecht directed the offense with a combined 43 assists with Eshleman recording a team-high 23.
On defense, junior
Sara McMullen (State College, Pa./State College) led four players in double-digit digs with 16 on Friday. Seniors
Julie Paronish (Hastings, Pa./Northern Cambria) and
Arica Smith (Mansfield, Pa./Mansfield) tallied 15 and 11 digs, while sophomore
Chelsea Wilson (Bellwood, Pa./Bellwood Antis) contributed 10 digs.
Cal U has won 10-consecutive Atlantic Region matches en route to claiming three-straight Atlantic Regional titles, as its last NCAA regional post-season loss came on Nov. 11, 2006.
In the other first-round matches on Friday, fourth-seeded Wheeling Jesuit rallied for a 3-1 win over Gannon; top-seeded Clarion swept Chowan by a 3-0 count; the Fighting Scots earned a 3-2 win over Lock Haven.
