Vulcans drop contest at East Stroudsburg

EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. (Oct. 9) – After battling to a scoreless first period, the Vulcans suffered a 1-0 loss at No. 20 East Stroudsburg on Saturday evening in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) action.

With the loss, the California University of Pennsylvania men's soccer team falls to 7-3-2 overall and 1-3-2 in league play this year. Meanwhile, the Warriors improve to 9-3 overall and claim first place in the conference standings with a 9-3 mark and 15 points.

The two teams remained scoreless until senior forward Shastri Spencer tallied his ninth goal (unassisted) of the season. The Vulcans' only shot attempt after trailing 1-0 when a kick by freshman Scott Campbell (Erie, Pa./Harbor Creek) missed high in the 74th minute.

In the loss, sSenior goalkeeper Derek Yobbi (South Park, Pa./South Park) collected three saves against the Warriors, while East Stroudsburg's Troy Hernandez earned the shutout after making one save.

The Warriors held a slim 10-9 advantage in shots and both teams took five corner kicks.
