No. 16 Vulcans fall at Slippery Rock, 1-0

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. (Sept. 5) – The No. 16 California University of Pennsylvania men's soccer team dropped a 1-0 contest to Slippery Rock in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) West -opener for the Vulcans.

The Vulcans fall to 3-1 overall and 0-1 in PSAC West play, while The Rock also is 3-1 overall and 2-0 in league action.

After a scoreless first period, Slippery Rock claimed a 1-0 lead in the 77th minute when Benjamin Lloyd scored an unassisted goal.

Junior goalkeeper Derek Yobbi (South Park, Pa./South Park) recorded three saves on 10 shots on Saturday, while The Rock's Greg Blum made two saves.

Slippery Rock held a 10-7 advantage in shots, while Cal U posted a 5-3 edge in corner kicks.

The defending-PSAC Champion Vulcans continue divisional play on Tuesday, Sept. 8, when they host Gannon for a 2 p.m. contest. Cal U swept last year's season series against Gannon, including a 3-0 shutout at Roadman Park.
