Cal U finishes Classic with 3-2 win

FINDLAY, Ohio (Sept. 6) – The California University of Pennsylvania volleyball team registered another victory this weekend with a 3-2 win over Bellarmine University (Ky.) (25-23, 17-25, 25-14, 32-34, 19-17) in the TownePlace Suites Classic.

The Vulcans move to 9-0 overall with the victory.

Three Cal U volleyball players tallied double-digit kill totals, led by junior Ludmila Amaral (Sao Paulo, Brazil/Afonso Schimidt) with 22, followed by junior Joanna Nist (Rockwood, Pa./Rockwood) with 19 and freshman Bridget Bielich (Bethel Park, Pa./Bethel Park) with 12. Junior libero Marta Hodge (Fayetteville, Pa./Chambersburg) led the team with 15 digs.

Junior setter Renata Silva (Sao Paulo, Brazil/Colegio Ateneu) guided the offense with 50 assists.

Cal U will begin Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference/West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (PSAC/WVIAC) crossover play on Friday, Saturday, Sept. 12, with a 3 p.m. match against Bluefield State College.
