Men's Soccer falls to Seton Hill, 2-1

GREENSBURG, Pa. (Sept. 29) – The California University of Pennsylvania men's soccer team took a 1-0 lead into the halftime before dropping its third game of the season, a 2-1 decision against Seton Hill University on Monday.

The Vulcans move to 5-3-2 overall, while the Griffins stand at 5-4-1 overall.

Cal U took a 1-0 lead in the 14th minute when junior forward Mike Luecke (Harleysville, Pa./Souderton) scored his team-best seventh goal of the season off an assist from senior Shakir McCoy (Huber Heights, Ohio/Tecumseh/Wayne).

Seton Hill evened the score at the 65:05-mark with a goal from sophomore forward Doug Schmitt with an assist to Mike Olvier. The Griffins then scored the eventual game-winning goal in the 85th minute off Schmitt's second goal of the contest off an assist from Tony Safran.

Sophomore Derek Yobbi (South Park, Pa./South Park) suffered the loss in net for the Vulcans after making three saves on 12 shot attempts in 90 minutes of action.

Cal U held a 12-7 advantage in shots, including five attempts by Luecke.

The Vulcans return to divisional play on Wednesday, Oct. 1, when they host Slippery Rock University at Roadman Park. The game is set for a 4 p.m. start.
