No. 17 Cal U edges West Chester, 3-2

WEST CHESTER, Pa. (Oct. 4) – The No. 17 California University of Pennsylvania volleyball team faced a near upset but defeated West Chester University (25-11, 12-12, 22-25, 17-25, 15-11) on Saturday inside Hollinger Field House.

Junior middle hitter Ludmila Amaral (Sao Paulo, Brazil/Afonso Schimidt) led the team with 20 kills while junior Marta Hodge (Fayetteville, Pa./Chambersburg) led the defense with a team-best 23 digs.

Junior Renata Silva (Sao Paulo, Brazil/Colegio Ateneu) steadied Cal U with 46 assists, five kills and six6 digs.

The Vulcans' record improves to 22-1 while the Golden Rams drop to 14-5 on the season.
