Vulcans earn 2-0 win over Clarion

CALIFORNIA (Oct. 25)– The Vulcans registered a 2-0 victory over Clarion University on Saturday in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) West play at Roadman Park. The game also marked Senior Day for the California University of Pennsylvania women's soccer team.

Cal U moves to 11-4-3 overall and 6-4-2 in league play, while Clarion falls to 3-11-3 overall and 0-9-3 in conference play.

Junior forward Amanda Heister (Palmyra, Pa./Northern Lebanon) gave the Vulcans a 1-0 lead at the 9:15-mark with her eighth goal of the season with freshman Kayla Jachimowski (Camden, Del./Caeser Rodney) collecting an assist on the goal.

Cal U increased its lead in the 56th minute when Jachimowski scored off an assist from classmate Erin Feltz (Munhall, Pa./Steel Valley).

Senior goalkeeper Erin Cook (Pittsburgh, Pa./Penn Hills) earned the seventh shutout of the year on Saturday, posting five saves in 90 minutes of action.

Today's game marks the final regular season home game at Roadman Park for three Cal U seniors: Cook, Katie Powell (Bentleyville, Pa./Charleroi) and Jennifer Wise (Spring Mills, Pa./Penns Valley).

The Vulcans return to action on Tuesday, Oct. 28, when they travel to Edinboro University for a 3 p.m. PSAC West contest.
