Mike Luecke (Harleysville, Pa./Souderton) earned the second hat trick of his collegiate career in the Vulcans' 3-1 victory over Point Park University at Roadman Park in non-conference play on Tuesday.
With the win, the California University of Pennsylvania men's soccer team improves to 9-6-2, while the Pioneers fall to 4-9-1.
Senior Dustin Hess put the Pioneers on the scoreboard first in the 30th minute of the game with an unassisted goal. Luecke answered that goal at the 39:16-mark with his 13th goal of the season.
Luecke broke the tie in the 53rd minute off an assist from
Brian Braithwaite (Pittsburgh, Pa./Chartiers Valley). Less than two minutes later Luecke scored his 15th goal of the season (36th of his career) off a rebound from freshman
Mike Kalas (Irwin, Pa./Norwin) to secure the win.
The Vulcans outshot the Pioneers 24-2 and held the advantage in corner kicks 10-3.
Cal U returns to action on Saturday, Oct. 21, when it hosts West Virginia Wesleyan at 12 p.m. at Roadman Park.
