WHEELING, W. Va. (Oct. 18) – The No. 18 California University of Pennsylvania volleyball team claimed a 3-0 victory (25-21, 25-11, 25-8) in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference/West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (PSAC/WVIAC) crossover match against the University of Charleston (W. Va.) on Saturday in the McDonough Center.
With the win, Cal U improves to 29-1 overall. To date, the Vulcans are one of only three teams with one loss in the national American Volleyball Coaches Association poll.
Junior
Joanna Nist (Rockwood, Pa./Rockwood) led Cal U with 13 kills and 14 digs, while
Thais Franca (Sao Paulo, Brazil/Padre Manoel De Paiva) added 10 kills. Junior
Marta Hodge (Fayetteville, Pa./Chambersburg) led the defense with 24 digs while Nist collected 14 digs.
Junior
Renata Silva (Sao Paulo, Brazil/Colegio Ateneu) guided the offense with 41 assists.
Cal U returns to divisional play Tuesday, Oct. 21 with a 7 p.m. match against Mercyhurst College at Hamer Hall.
