Vulcans sweep past W. Va. Wesleyan 3-0

WHEELING, W. Va. (Oct. 17) – The No. 18 California University of Pennsylvania volleyball team claimed a 3-0 victory (25-16, 29-27, 25-14) over West Virginia Wesleyan in the first of three crossover matchups of the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference/West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (PSAC/WVIAC) hosted by Wheeling Jesuit University this weekend.

With the win the Vulcans' record improves to 27-1 while the Bobcats fall to 9-9.

Juniors Ludmila Amaral (Sao Paulo, Brazil/Afonso Schimidt) and Joanna Nist (Rockwood, Pa./Rockwood) led the team with 10 kills each while junior Renata Silva (Sao Paulo, Brazil/Colegio Ateneu) led in assists with 28. Junior Marta Hodge (Fayetteville, Pa./Chambersburg) led the defense with a team-best 20 digs.

Cal U continues crossover tournament play later today, Friday, Oct. 17, with a 5 p.m. match against Wheeling Jesuit in the McDonough Center.
