WHEELING, W.Va. (Oct. 17) – Junior
Joanna Nist (Rockwood, Pa./Rockwood) joined elite company on Friday in the No. 18 Vulcans' 3-0 victory over Wheeling Jesuit University in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC)/West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WVIAC) crossover match, hosted by the Cardinals.
Nist became only the third player in California University of Pennsylvania history to register 1,000 career kills and 1,000 career digs after collecting four digs in the victory. The junior outside hitter joins Jessica Brown (2002-05) and Katie Barker (2002-05) as the only players to surpass the 1,000-mark in both categories.
With the win, Cal U improves to 28-1 overall while Wheeling Jesuit drops to 13-5.

Ludmila Amaral (Sao Paulo, Brazil/Afonso Schimidt) led the Vulcans with 18 kills with Nist added 13 kills. Libero
Marta Hodge (Fayetteville, Pa./Chambersburg) paced the defensive effort with 28 digs, while junior setter
Renata Silva (Sao Paulo, Brazil/Colegio Ateneu) and senior defensive specialist
Mallory DeMarco (Cranberry, Twp., Pa./Seneca Valley) finished with 13 and 12 digs, respectively.
The Vulcans conclude play in the PSAC/WVIAC Crossover tomorrow, Saturday, Sept. 18, with a 4 p.m. match against the University of Charleston (W.Va.)
