CALIFORNIA (Oct. 11) – Senior Shakir McCoy (Huber Heights, Ohio/Tecumseh/ Wayne), and juniors Mike Luecke (Harleysville, Pa./Souderton) and Nick Helbig (Carnegie, Pa./Chartiers Valley) combined for three goals in the Vulcans' 3-0 Homecoming victory over Gannon University in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) West action at Roadman Park.

With the win, the California University of Pennsylvania men's soccer team improves to 7-5-2 overall and 3-2-1 in divisional play. Gannon moves to 7-5-1 overall and 2-3-1 in league action.

McCoy put the Vulcans on the scoreboard in the 36th minute with his fourth goal of the season on a penalty kick. Luecke increased the lead to 2-0 with his 12th goal of the season off an assist from Spencer Crider (Orrstown, Pa./Chambersburg) at the 47:56-mark. Helbig added an insurance goal on a penalty kick in the 75th minute, his sixth goal of the season.

Sophomore goalkeeper Derek Yobbi (South Park, Pa./South Park) earned the victory in net for the Vulcans, posting two saves on eight shot attempts in 90 minutes of play.

Cal U returns to action on Wednesday, Oct. 15, when it travels to Wheeling W.Va., for a 7 p.m. contest against Wheeling Jesuit University.
