CALIFORNIA (Oct. 1) – The Vulcans registered a 2-0 victory over No. 21 Slippery Rock University in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) West play on Wednesday at Roadman Park, snapping The Rock's 16-game winning streak over the Vulcans.
Both teams entered the contest ranked among the top 10 teams in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America/adidas Atlantic Regional rankings; The Rock were ranked third in the region, while the Vulcans were tied for 10th. Five of the 11 teams in the rankings are members of the PSAC Western division.
The California University of Pennsylvania women's soccer team moves to 6-3-2 overall and 3-3-1 in league play this year. Meanwhile, Slippery Rock falls to 7-2-1 overall and 4-2-1 in divisional action.

Senior goalkeeper
Erin Cook (Pittsburgh, Pa./Penn Hills), the reigning PSAC Athlete of the Week, recorded her fourth shutout of the season – third consecutive – after making two saves on 11 shot attempts.
The Vulcans have posted three-straight shutouts for the first time since the 2001 season. The feat has only been accomplished six times since the start of the program in 1990.
Cal U out-shot Slippery Rock by a 14-11 margin after taking 10 shots in the first period, while The Rock attempted all three corner kicks in the contest.
The Vulcans return to action on Saturday, Oct. 4, with a league-crossover game at Millersville University. The game is slated for 5 p.m. at Millersville, Pa.
