Sanogo recorded 4.5 TFL and 2.0 sacks, both at critical points late in the fourth quarter, as the Vulcans opened the year with 31-20 comeback victory against Kutztown. He also finished with six tackles (four solo) and one forced fumble while making his first career start. With Cal trailing 20-17, he made a TFL and sack on back-to-back plays to force a three-and-out by the Golden Bears. After Cal took its initial lead of the game in the final minute, the Academy Park product registered a strip sack on the first play of the Kutztown drive that Cal recovered deep in Golden Bears territory.
