PREVIEW I Atlantic Region Rankings
The women's championship race may provide some mix-up compared to last year's standings. Shippensburg returns as the reigning-PSAC Champion following its first title since 2012, however the Raiders sit second in the latest regional rankings. Edinboro, which won back-to-back titles in 2014 and 2015, is currently the top team in the region after finishing seventh last year, while host Cal U rounds out the top three in the rankings. Edinboro and Shippensburg competed in different competitions last weekend, while Cal U was idle. The Fighting Scots finished No. 13 in a field of 35 teams from across the country at the GLVC Conference Crossover in Illinois, while Shippensburg finished behind just Pitt and Duquesne at the Carnegie Mellon Invitational.

The Raiders return five of the top-25 runners from last season and the Fighting Scots featured a talented class of newcomers mixed with a pair of returning All-PSAC Second-Team honorees.  The Vulcans feature perhaps the top duo in the league in seniors Julie Friend and Summer Hill, both of which have placed among the top five overall at the conference meet in their careers. Friend won both the 5K and 10K at the 2017 PSAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships, while Hill earned All-America in both the indoor and outdoor seasons last year.

The field of contenders also features Hannah Bourdeau from last year's runner-up team Bloomsburg. Bourdeau placed ninth at the league meet before finishing eighth overall at the regional championships. East Stroudsburg finished third last year and returns a top-15 finisher in Kaylyn West. Three additional returners from the top 15 last season include Stephanie Bresadola of Kutztown, Amanda Shultz of Lock Haven and Dianna Dunn of West Chester.
