A former player and graduate assistant for the Vulcans, Ervin Gosto enters his first year as assistant coach at Cal U in 2014.
Gosto served the past two seasons as a graduate assistant with the women's program following a three-year playing career with the Vulcans.
Over the last two years, Gosto has aided the women's program in tallying a 34-8-3 overall record (.789) while making back-to-back appearances in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Championship and the NCAA Tournament. Cal U has posted a 26-3-1 mark (.883) in conference play over the last two years, including a perfect 17-0-0 record at home.
Gosto worked with the goalkeepers in each of the last two seasons, as Cal U set a school record and tied for fourth in the country with 16 shutouts in 2013. He helped develop two-year starter Ashley Magruda, who ranked among the top 15 in the country last year in both goals-against average (GAA) and save percentage.
Gosto played for the Vulcans and longtime head coach Dennis Laskey from 2008-10, appearing in 11 games throughout his career. As a freshman, he was a member of the team that captured the first PSAC Championship in program history. Cal U also qualified for the NCAA Tournament that season for the first time since 2004.
Originally from Bosnia, Gosto was a two-time PSAC Scholar-Athlete during his career and was a five-time member of the Cal U AD Honor Roll.
Gosto received his undergraduate degree from Cal U in sport management with a minor in leadership in 2012. He then completed a master's degree in business administration in 2014.
