After playing her senior season on last year’s Elite Eight team, Emily Briggs returns to the California University of Pennsylvania women’s basketball program as a graduate assistant in 2008-09.
A mid-season addition, Briggs helped the Vulcans post a 10-3 record down the stretch which included an appearance in the championship game of the PSAC Tournament and the program’s seventh-straight appearance in the NCAA Tournament.
A former standout at Chartiers-Houston High School in Houston, Pa., Briggs originally attended Winthrop University (N.C.), a Division I school in the Big South Conference. In two seasons with the Eagles, she appeared in 33 career games with six starts as a sophomore.
In high school, she scored over 1,700 career points and collected over 1,000 career rebounds.
