A former player under head coach Danny Sancomb, Zach Duffy enters his first season as a volunteer assistant at Cal U in 2020-21.

Duffy played three seasons at Wheeling under Sancomb before playing his senior year for then-head coach John Peckinpaugh. He appeared in over 30 games during his collegiate career, including 12 games as a senior. In 2018, the Cardinals won their first-ever Mountain East Conference (MEC) Championship and made a third-consecutive appearance in the NCAA Tournament. Wheeling advanced to NCAA Atlantic Regional Championship in 2017 before losing to eventual-national runner-up Fairmont State.

While at Wheeling, Duffy played alongside the 2018 Ron Lenz National Player of the Year in Haywood Highsmith. He made his NBA debut with the Philadelphia 76ers in the 2018-19 season and has played in the NBA G League with the Delaware Blue Coats. Additionally, Duffy was a teammate of guard Zach Collins, who is the older brother of current Cal U sophomore Zyan Collins.

A native of Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania, Duffy was a member of the basketball, baseball and cross country teams while at the scholastic level.

Duffy earned his bachelor’s degree in early childhood education from Wheeling in 2019. He is currently pursuing his master’s degree from Cal U in sport management with a concentration in intercollegiate athletic administration.
