Tyler Care joins the Cal U coaching staff as a graduate assistant for the 2013-14 season after serving as the associate head coach at Community College of Beaver County last year.
While with CCBC, Care helped lead the program to a 26-1 overall record and the No. 1 ranking in National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division II for most of the year. The Titans recorded an undefeated regular season and claimed a conference championship before suffering their only loss of the year by one point in the regional title game.
Care was a four-year guard at Penn State-Beaver and was named captain as a senior for the 2011-12 campaign. He helped the program earn three-straight Penn State University Athletic Conference (PSUAC) championships and make four appearances in the United State Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) National Tournament. During his playing career, Penn State-Beaver compiled an 86-34 overall record (.717) with only a combined six losses in league play.
A native of Hopewell, Pa., Care has spent time as a mentor in the Big Brothers Big Sisters organization and regularly supports Special Olympics events.
Care earned his bachelor’s degree in business management from Penn State-Beaver in 2012 and is currently pursuing a master’s degree in sport management from Cal U.
