Mike Zito

Mike Zito joins the Cal U coaching staff as a graduate assistant for the 2012-13 season after serving as a student assistant at Lock Haven.

Zito served on the coaching staff of both the men’s and women’s basketball programs at Lock Haven, a fellow PSAC member. While working with the women’s program, the Bald Eagles registered their winningest seasons since 2006-07. Last season, Lock Haven featured its first All-PSAC West selection in five years and finished just two wins shy of making its first PSAC Tournament appearance since 1991.

A native of eastern Pennsylvania, Zito worked with the men’s program for three seasons, including last year under current head coach Mike Nestor. While with the Bald Eagles, he helped coach PSAC West Player of the Year Billy Arre, who finished his career as the school’s all-time leading scorer and plays professionally in Luxemburg.

Zito has worked several basketball camps, including the Bob Hurley Basketball Camp, Hoop Group Skills Camp and Hoop Group Jam Fests.

Prior to Lock Haven, Zito was member of district basketball and soccer championship teams while at Notre Dame High School in East Stroudsburg, Pa.

Zito earned his bachelor’s degree in sport administration from Lock Haven in 2011 and is currently pursing a master’s degree in sport management from Cal U.
