    Volunteer Assistant Men's Basketball Coach
A former two-year player for the Vulcans, Kenny Johnson enters his first season as a volunteer assistant coach with the Cal U coaching staff.

Johnson played for head coach Bill Brown from 2007-09, making 12 starts as a senior. He led the team in both assists and steals, while setting career highs for points and rebounds during the 2008-09 campaign. Johnson was a key reserve for the Vulcans as a junior, as the program won its first PSAC Championship since 1999 and advanced to the Elite Eight in the NCAA Tournament.

Prior to arriving at Cal U, Johnson helped the Community College of Beaver County advance to the state championship game. He started his collegiate career at Ferrum, a NCAA Division III program in Virginia. Johnson was named the conference Rookie of the Year after leading the team in scoring and assists.

Following his player career, Johnson entered the coaching ranks at the scholastic level. He previously served as an assistant coach for three years at Frazier High School in nearby Perryopolis. Johnson has also served as an AAU coach around the Pittsburgh area, working with  CTS and former Pitt standout Julius Page.

Johnson earned his bachelor’s degree in liberal studies from Cal U in 2010.
