A native of nearby Donora, Pa., Kellen Holmes enters his first year as a graduate assistant with the Vulcans during the 2011-12 campaign.
Holmes recently finished his four-year playing career at Seton Hill in the West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WVIAC). Despite missing most of two seasons due to injury, he averaged 9.3 points per game for his career after starting 47 games.
Holmes started 16 games as a freshman at Seton Hill, posting 6.5 points and 2.2 rebounds per game. He played only eight games the next two years before starting 26 games last season for the Griffins. As a senior, Holmes finished third on the team with career highs of 11.9 points and 2.4 assists per game, while playing nearly 32 minutes per game.
Prior to his time at Seton Hill, Holmes played scholastically at Ringgold High School in Monongahela, Pa. While with the Rams, he was a team captain and received first-team all-section honors.
He graduated from Seton Hill this spring with a bachelor’s degree in communications and is currently pursuing a master’s degree in sport management from Cal U.
