A former starting quarterback in the PSAC West, Tyler Huether enters his first year working with the running backs as a volunteer assistant.
Last year, Huether worked with a trio of running backs that combined for nearly 1,200 yards and 17 touchdowns despite the loss of an All-PSAC West First-Team selection just one-third of the way through the season.
Huether played quarterback at Clarion from 2006-09 under current Cal U offensive line coach, Dave Durish, who was the offensive coordinator for the Golden Eagles. He accounted for over 6,800 yards of total offense in his career and ranks among the top five all-time in school history in completions, attempts and passing yards.
As a senior in 2009, Huether set a career high with nearly 2,250 passing yards while also rushing for almost 300 yards and eight touchdowns. He played a pivotal role in Clarion finishing with an 8-3 overall record despite winning only a combined four games the previous three years.
Huether was a standout quarterback at Penn-Trafford, as he totaled over 5,600 passing yards and nearly 50 touchdowns in his career.
Prior to joining Cal U, Huether spent four years at the scholastic level as an assistant coach in the WPIAL. He returned to his alma mater, Penn-Trafford, in 2010 before serving two years as the quarterbacks coach at Franklin Regional. Huether later spent the 2016 season as the offensive coordinator at Yough.
Huether, who is currently a services sales repetitive at Cintas, earned his bachelor’s degree in liberal studies with a minor in athletic coaching from Clarion in 2010.
