Larry Wilson enters his seventh year at Cal U as the wide receivers coach and special teams coordinator and has coached All-Americans in both roles.
Since 2005, Wilson has coached at least one All-PSAC West First-Team wide receiver every year. He has mentored three different 1,000-yard receivers, with Marcel Pestano becoming the first in 25 years during the 2008 season. Wilson was instrumental in the development of All-American A.J. Jackson, who in 2009 set single-season school records for receptions, yards and touchdowns.
Wilson has also developed some of the top specialists in the PSAC. In 2007, kicker Tyler Lorenz was named an All-American after setting the school record for single-season and career field goals. Last year, he coached All-PSAC kicker Marc Domonkos and punter Derek Fiorenza. Domonkos set the school record for PAT attempts, while Fiorenza ranked second in the league in punting.
Prior to his time with the Vulcans, Wilson was no stranger to the PSAC as he played three seasons at rival Slippery Rock.
Wilson also brings head-coaching experience from the scholastic level as he served as the head coach at Frazier High School, where he was an all-state receiver, in nearby Perryopolis, Pa.
He graduated from Slippery Rock in 1999 with a bachelor’s degree in sports management.
Wilson and his Kristin live in North Huntingdon, Pa., with their son, Cooper.
