Larry Wilson enters his fifth year at Cal U as the wide receivers coach and special teams coordinator and has coached several All-PSAC West receivers and specialists.

Last year, he coached record-setting wide receiver Marcel Pestano, who broke a pair of 25-year old school marks for receptions and receiving yards en route to receiving All-America Honorable Mention laurels.

Wilson also tutored one of the top special team units in the nation in 2008, as the Vulcans ranked third in Division II in both net punting and kickoff returns. Punter Derek Fiorenza earned all-region honors after ranking second in the league in punting average.

In 2007, he coached a pair of All-America specialists in kicker Tyler Lorenz and punter Jace Amore. Lorenz, who earned AP All-America honors, finished second in the country in field goals per game. Amore received Daktronics All-America accolades.

Prior to his time with the Vulcans, Wilson was no stranger to the PSAC as he played three seasons at conference-rival Slippery Rock University.

Wilson also brings head-coaching experience from the scholastic level as he served as the head coach at Frazier High School, where he was an all-state receiver, in nearby Perryopolis, Pa.

He graduated from Slippery Rock in 1999 with a bachelor’s degree in sports management. Wilson is currently pursing a master’s degree in arts of teaching at California.

Wilson and his wife Kristin live in North Huntingdon, Pa., with their son, Cooper.
