Dwain Painter enters his second season on the Vulcans’ coaching staff as the quality control coach after nearly two decades of coaching professional football. He started his professional coaching career with the Pittsburgh Steelers, working under head coach Chuck Noll.
In addition to his time with the Steelers, Painter has worked with the Indianapolis Colts, Dallas Cowboys, Denver Broncos, San Diego Chargers and NFL Europe. In 1994, he was a member of the Chargers’ coaching staff when they made their first Super Bowl appearance in team history. Painter returned to Super Bowl in January of 1998 as a part of the Broncos’ staff when Denver won Super Bowl XXXII over the Green Bay Packers.
Painter graduated from Rutgers University and earned a letter with the Scarlet Knights in 1963. He was a member of the program’s first undefeated team in 1961 when Rutgers posted a 9-0 record.
