A veteran coach at the scholastic and college ranks, Dick Mock enters his second season as the linebackers coach.
Last year, Mock mentored a pair of All-PSAC West outside linebackers that combined for 28.0 TFL and 15.0 sacks, as the Vulcans ranked among the top 10 in the country in total defense, scoring defense and sacks.
Mock has spent the majority of his coaching career within Cambria County. He started coaching in 1972 before taking the position of defensive coordinator at Richland High School the following year. Mock then served as an assistant at Greater Johnstown High School from 1977-79 and helped mentor Carlton Haselrig, who eventually played five seasons in the NFL after winning six NCAA National Championships in wrestling.
Mock then moved to Georgia for two years and was an assistant at Woodward Academy in 1980 when the school won its second state championship. He returned to the Johnstown area in 1981 and established a financial planning company before returning to the coaching ranks in 2003.
Following stints at Westmont Hilltop and Richland, Mock joined Saint Francis as a volunteer assistant in 2010. He worked with middle linebackers, offensive line and outside linebackers while with the Red Flash. He worked alongside Mike Craig as the outside linebackers coach during his last two years at Saint Francis.
Mock, who is a member of the Bedford County Hall of Fame, has two children, Natalia and Gavin.
