In 2008, Dave Carfley will begin his sixth season with the California University baseball program and serves as the infield coach and first base coach for the Vulcans.
He is a 2005 graduate of California University, where he earned his bachelor's degree in history. He is currently pursuing his master's degree in Sport Management at Cal U.
Originally from State College, Pa., Carfley began his coaching career in 1996 as an assistant with the State College American Legion team. He stayed with that team for seven seasons before joining the Vulcans in 2003.
He also spent the last two summers as an assistant coach with the Reston Hawks of the Clarke Griffin League (2005) and the Wilmington Sharks of the Coastal Plain League (2006). He has already been named the head coach of the Petersburg Generals of the Coastal Plain League for 2007.
