Dr. Weary is a tenured assistant professor in the Health Science Department at California University of PA and teaches in the Undergraduate Athletic Training Education Program. Dr. Weary is the Head Athletic Trainer for the Cal U Football program, as well as the Cal U Athletic Training staff comprised of four faculty assistant athletic trainers and eight graduate assistant athletic trainers.
Dr. Weary earned her bachelor’s degree in Health Science / Athletic Training from Slippery Rock University in 1999, received NATA BOC certification in May 1999, and completed her Doctorate in Physical Therapy in 2002. She began her career as an athletic trainer at Grove City High School in Grove City, Pa. and then continued on to Westminster College, a DIII college in New Wilmington, Pa. where she spent two years working as a physical therapist and an assistant athletic trainer. In 2005, Weary moved to Cal U where she worked as a physical therapist, operating a PT clinic for Cal U students, staff, and faculty. In 2006, she began her career with Cal U Athletic Training and Cal U Football. She is a member of the National Athletic Trainers’ Association (NATA), Eastern Athletic Trainers’ Association (EATA), and Pennsylvania Athletic Trainer’s Society (PATS), and is a PA licensed direct access physical therapist.
In 2011, Dr. Weary was granted tenure as a California University of PA faculty member and is starting her sixth year with the Vulcans. Dr. Weary is the daughter of Robert and Carol Weary, of Fredonia, Pa. and currently resides in Brownsville, Pa.

Dr. Shelly Fetchen-DiCesaro is an assistant professor in the Department of Health Science and Athletic Training Education Program at California University of Pennsylvania, as well as the certified athletic trainer for Cal U Women’s Basketball. Prior to coming to Cal U, DiCesaro taught courses in the Exercise and Rehabilitation Science department at Slippery Rock University and was an assistant professor at the University of Akron.
DiCesaro is an alumna of the Cal U Athletic Training Education Program and received a master’s degree in clinical exercise physiology from The George Washington University, D.C. She received a doctoral degree from the University of Pittsburgh in exercise physiology with an emphasis in sports medicine.
DiCesaro’s research interests include pediatric sports medicine and gender differences in non-contact ACL injuries. She is a member of the National Athletic Trainers’ Association (NATA), American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) and North American Society for Pediatric Exercise Medicine. She has presented papers at regional, national, and international conferences and has received numerous state and national research grants pertaiing to sports medicine and young athletes. She worked as a certified athletic trainer at the 1996 Summer Olympic Games in Atlanta, Georgia. Additionally, she serves as a reviewer for the Journal of Athletic Training, Athletic Therapy Today and Athletic Training and Sports Therapy and has been named as a test question writer for the National Athletic Training certification exam. DiCesaro serves as Chairperson for the Pennsylvania Athletic Trainers’ Society (PATS) Ethics Committee and is a member of the PATS convention planning and public relations committees.
DiCesaro was recently appointed as the chapter coordinator for the National Canine Cancer Foundation's Pittsburgh chapter and resides in North Fayette, PA with her husband Dr. Daniel DiCesaro, who is the founder of DiCesaro Spine and Sport in Moon Township and McMurray. The couple has one child, Jackson.

Jeffrey Giovannucci is an instructor in the Department of Health Science and Athletic Training Education Program at California University of Pennsylvania, as well as the certified athletic trainer for the Cal U men’s and women’s cross country and track & field teams. Prior to coming to Cal U, Giovannucci was an Instructor and Assistant Athletic Trainer in the Athletic Training Education Program at Marietta College and an Instructor and Clinical Coordinator/Assistant Athletic Trainer at Buena Vista University.
Giovannucci is an alumnus of the Kent State University Athletic Training Education Program ‘11 and received a Master of Arts in Education degree with a concentration in Curriculum and Instruction/Education Learning Technologies from New Mexico State University ‘13. He will pursue a Doctor of Education in Administration and Leadership studies in Fall 2018.
Giovannucci is a member of the National Athletic Trainers’ Association (NATA) and Pennsylvania Athletic Trainers’ Society (PATS). He has volunteered as a certified athletic trainer at the 2017 Special Olympic Winter Games in Seven Springs, Pennsylvnaia. Additionally, he serves as the faculty advisor for the Cal U Athletic Training Student Organization.
Giovannucci resides in South Fayette, Pennsylvania, with his wife Emily, who is an Elementary and Intermediate Art Education Teacher at South Fayette School District, along with their daughter Saige.
