CLARION, Pa. (March 29) – The Vulcans split a pair of run-rule contests in a doubleheader at Clarion on Friday afternoon in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) West play, winning 10-0 in Game 1 before dropping an 11-3 contest in Game 2 with both games being decided in five innings.

GAME 1
STATS
• Junior
Caleigh Rister (5-4) registered her second complete-game shutout of the spring, scattering four hits over 5.0 scoreless innings (85 pitches) with zero walks and six strikeouts.
• She also tallied two hits, one RBI and three runs scored from the leadoff spot.
• The trio of junior first baseman
Kaitlyn Achtermeier, senior second baseman
Jordan Pinneri and senior catcher
Britney Wilson all finished with two RBI.

ACTION
• The Vulcans erupted for eight runs on six singles and four walks in the top of the first.
• Pinneri posted an RBI single before Wilson later followed with a two-run single.

Mikayla Linkous later delivered a two-run single with two outs before Rister and Fiorilli followed with RBI singles.
• Pinnero collected her second RBI of the inning on a bases-loaded walk.
• Cal scored its final runs of the game on a two-run single by Achtermeier in the top of the fifth.
GAME 2
STATS
• Pinneri posted two hits, two RBI and one run scored against the Golden Eagles.

Alyssa Rose (4-4) suffered the loss after surrendering seven runs (four earned) in 3.1 innings while setting a season high with nine strikeouts.
ACTION
• The Vulcans scored three runs in the top of the first on a two-run triple by Pinneri, who then scored on a ground-out.
• Clarion countered with a pair of unearned runs in the bottom of the inning and tied the score at 3-3 with one run in the second.
• The Golden Eagles then scored four runs in the fourth on three singles, two walks and one error.
• Clarion forced the run-rule victory by tallying another four runs in the fifth inning.
NEXT
• Cal returns to action on Tuesday, April 2, when it hosts Seton Hill for a doubleheader at Lilley Field, starting at 2 p.m.
• The Vulcans were previously set to play a twinbill against Gannon tomorrow, Saturday, March 30, before moving the games to April 7 due to rain in the forecast.
