WASHINGTON, Pa. (March 13) – The California (PA) baseball team scored eight runs over the sixth and seventh innings on Wednesday afternoon while posting an 8-1 victory over Davis & Elkins at Wild Things Park.
RECORDS/SERIES
• The Vulcans improve to 8-4 overall behind a 4-2 mark at home.
• The Senators remain winless this spring with an 0-14 mark.
• Cal has won nine of the last 12 meetings in the series with D&E over the last decade.

• Sophomore
Michael Valente (3-0) earned the win in his third home start of the year.
• He allowed one run (earned) on eight hits and one walk with four strikeouts over 7.0 innings (85 pitches).
• Fellow sophomore
Jake Kramer tossed 2.0 scoreless innings of no-hit relief (30 pitches).
• Junior second baseman
Santino Marra went 2-for-4 with a three-run double and one run scored.
• Freshman third baseman
Caleb Collins reached base in all four plate appearances (three walks, single) and tallied one RBI and two runs scored.
• Freshman center fielder
Ikon Jones scored twice and stole two bases from the leadoff spot.
• Sophomore
Conor Carney collected a pair of RBI after entering the game as a defensive replacement.
GAME ACTION
• D&E took a 1-0 lead in the top of the second after back-to-back hits to open the inning.
• The Senators limited the Vulcans to only three base runners through the fifth while using a different pitcher each inning.
• Jones started the bottom of the sixth with a walk and scored from second on a single by Collins.
• Carney later executed a squeeze bunt with Collins and Marra in scoring position to give the Vulcans a 2-1 lead.
• The Vulcans erupted for six runs in the seventh on four hits, two walks and one error to seal the victory.
• Marra delivered a bases-loaded double to left field before junior left fielder
Ryan Callahan followed with an RBI single.
• Carney then collected an RBI triple to left center before scoring on a fielding error.
• D&E sophomore Mason Brenneman (0-1), who started the game at second base, suffered the loss after allowing two runs (both earned) on two hits and one walk.
• The Senators used nine different pitchers in the contest with none working more than 1.0 inning.

• The Vulcans are idle for a week before hosting West Liberty for a non-conference doubleheader on Wednesday, March 20, at Wild Things Park.
• Cal canceled its single game set at Ohio Dominican for tomorrow, Thursday, March 14, in Columbus, Ohio, due to weather concerns.
