• Cal U trailed by just four points late in the fourth quarter before suffering a 17-6 loss at IUP in the 11th-annual Coal Bowl. The Vulcans allowed just 85 rushing yards on 32 attempts and held the Crimson Hawks scoreless in the first half. Redshirt senior linebacker
Julian Cox set a season high with 12 tackles and also registered 1.5 TFL and one interception. Sophomore defensive lineman
Gerald Brown tallied 10 stops, 3.0 TFL and 1.0 sack in the loss. Senior running back
Nelson Brown set a season high with 114 yards on 21 attempts against the Crimson Hawks.
• The Vulcans have won the last 14 meetings against the Golden Eagles dating back to the 2004 season. Cal U has also claimed eight-straight victories in the series with Clarion at Adamson Stadium.
• A former All-American quarterback for the Golden Eagles,
Chris Weibel is in his fifth year as head coach at his alma mater. He previously spent 11 years as an assistant coach at Clarion, serving as the offensive coordinator from 2013-14. Weibel, who is among The PSAC's 150 Contributors as a player, helped guide Clarion to an 11-3 record in 1996 after advancing to the semifinals of the NCAA Playoffs.

• Clarion leads the PSAC this season in rushing offense at 191.0 yards per game and is fourth in scoring offense at 39.4 points per game. Junior
Mylique McGriff paces the league with 607 rushing yards after eclipsing the century mark five times this fall. He has totaled nearly 2,100 rushing yards and 15 rushing touchdowns in his career. Senior
Jeff Clemens has split time at quarterback in 2019 after posting over 1,000 passing yards in each of the last two seasons. He has already set a career high with 10 touchdown passes this fall and is completing nearly 63 percent of his attempts. Senior wide receiver
Kahliq Muhammad has made an instant impact after playing last season at Urbana. He ranks fourth in the PSAC with six touchdown receptions, including three last week against Seton Hill, and leads the team with 282 receiving yards and 25 catches. Sophomore
Terrell Ford and freshman
Quinn Zinobile both also have over 250 receiving yards this year with five combined touchdowns. Defensively, Clarion is anchored by senior defensive back
Sam Fareri and senior defensive lineman
Saif Khan. Fareri leads the team with 29 tackles after making a career-high four interceptions in 2018. An All-PSAC West selection last year, Khan has registered 9.0 sacks and 17.5 TFL in his career. Senior

• Cal U hosts Clarion for Homecoming on Saturday for the fourth time in seven years. The Vulcans have won 13 of their last 14 Homecoming games with the lone loss coming last season against Gannon. On Homecoming 2017, Clarion scored a touchdown with 29 seconds left to cut the deficit to 21-19 before an unsuccessful two-point attempt sealed the contest.

• The Vulcans recorded a blocked field goal in the final minute of the first half last week. It marked the first blocked kick for Cal U this season after it led the PSAC with seven in 2018. Sophomore
Jermal Martin, Jr. blocked a 24-yard field goal at IUP with 49 seconds left in the first half, as the Vulcans took a 3-0 lead into the break. Cal U has blocked a staggering 52 kicks over the last eight years.

• Cal U was held without a touchdown and finished with under 100 passing yards last week at IUP. It marked the first time in 87 games in which the Vulcans were unable to score a touchdown. Cal U was last limited to under 100 passing yards against Shippensburg on Homecoming 2004 when the Red Raiders featured future NFL Pro Bowlers in Brent Grimes and John Kuhn.

• The Vulcans and Golden Eagles enter the weekend ranked among the PSAC leaders in opponents' third-down percentage. Clarion paces the league with a 25.9 third-down conversion rate, while Cal U sits third in the conference at 29.2 percent. The Golden Eagles have only allowed a combined 15 third-down conversions in 2019.

• Redshirt senior linebacker
Julian Cox set a season high with 12 tackles, plus recorded 1.5 TFL and one interception, last week. He ranks second in the PSAC with 8.5 TFL this year after suffering a season-ending injury in Week 1 of the 2018 campaign. Cox, who has made at least 1.5 TFL in four-straight games, also paces the team with 36 stops and is tied for the team lead with two interceptions.

• Last week, freshman kicker Keaton Heir converted a pair of field goals and set a season long with a 37-yard kick in the fourth quarter. He currently leads the team in scoring with 36 points behind five goals and 22 PAT attempts. A kicker has led the Vulcans in scoring only five times since the 2002 season and
Will Brazill was the last kicker to accomplish the feat in 2017.

• Cal U enters the weekend tied for the lead in NCAA Division II with 17 turnovers forced and 11 interceptions this season. The Vulcans have made at least one interception in all five games this year, which is the longest streak of games with an interception since they made an interception in eight-consecutive contests in 2017. Cal U is tied for second in the country with a plus-11 turnover margin through five games.

• Senior running back
Nelson Brown reached the century mark for the third time this year last week at IUP. He finished with a season-high 114 rushing yards on 21 carries after the Crimson Hawks were only allowing 75.0 rushing yards per game. Brown, who has 15 career 100-yard games, is one of only four active players across
all NCAA divisions with 800 career attempts.

• This weekend features a meeting of the top-ranked rushing offense and rushing defense in the PSAC. Clarion paces the league with 191.0 rushing yards per game, while Cal U leads the country by only allowing 28.8 rushing yards per game. The Vulcans have yielded 144 rushing yards and just one rushing touchdown on 131 carries in five games this season.

• Last week, sophomore defensive lineman
Gerald Brown set a season high with 10 tackles and matched his career high of 3.0 TFL at IUP. He ranks second on the team this season with 29 tackles and has registered 7.5 TFL and 4.5 sacks, both career highs. Brown has made at least 2.0 TFL in three games this year after totaling 5.0 TFL in 11 games as a true freshman.

• The PSAC enters the weekend with five undefeated teams, but two undefeated teams in each division will be playing each other on Saturday. East Stroudsburg will travel to face Kutztown, while Slippery Rock plays host to IUP. Aside from the PSAC, Super Region One only features one other undefeated team (Notre Dame), as every team in the NE-10 and G-MAC already has at least one loss this season.
