BLOOMSBURG, Pa. (Oct. 20) – The California University of Pennsylvania men's soccer team yielded the game-winning goal in the final 10 minutes on Saturday afternoon in a 1-0 loss at Bloomsburg in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) play.
With the loss, the Vulcans drop to 2-8-4 this season with a 1-8-1 mark in league action. Meanwhile, the Huskies improve to 7-9 overall behind a 4-6 record in conference play.
Cal U pressured the net with a pair of shot attempts and a corner kick within a four-minute span in the initial 12 minutes. The Huskies then countered with a five-minute surge that featured two shots, a corner kick and an offsides. Midway through the first half, the Vulcans recorded four shots in a span of two-plus minutes with a pair of shots placed on target. Bloomsburg was later unable to collect a shot following back-to-back corner kicks in the 36th minute. The teams entered the break scoreless despite a combined 11 shots and six corner kicks.
The Huskies controlled the pace of play early in the second half with six shots before the Vulcans attempted a corner kick in the 66th minute. Bloomsburg eventually took a 1-0 lead at the 81:23-mark when Luis Partida scored off an outlet pass by Lael Cherry. The Vulcans were unable to record a scoring chance in the final eight-plus minutes of play.

Lucas Exner (Horstmar, Germany/Pascal-Gymnasium) tallied two saves while facing 16 shots on Saturday.
Bloomsburg finished the game with a 16-8 shot advantage after attempting 13 shots in the second half. The Huskies also posted a 7-4 edge in corner kicks during the contest.
Cal U returns to action on Tuesday, Oct. 23, when it hosts Malone in non-conference play at 6:30 p.m.
