The Vulcans then forced the Golden Eagles to punt for the fifth time in the first half and entered the break with a 21-0 lead.
Cal U was forced to punt on the opening drive of the third quarter and a fluke bounce led to a 62-yard punt return that setup the Golden Eagles at the 10-yard line of the Vulcans. The Vulcans managed to force a turnover on downs, as Suber and senior defensive lineman
Cameron Tarver (Columbus, Ohio/Central Crossing) stopped the quarterback for no gain on fourth-and-goal from the 1-yard line. Cal U was then held to a three-and-out and Clarion was able to capitalize on the short field with a seven-yard touchdown run with 6:03 left in the third quarter, 21-7.

The Golden Eagles were able to get back to the 3-yard line before Edwards tackled the receiver at the 3-yard line to force a turnover on downs.
Clarion cut the deficit to 21-13 on a 19-yard touchdown pass with 3:11 left in the fourth quarter before the PAT attempt was blocked by Baker. Following a punt by the Vulcans, the Golden Eagles converted a fourth-and-10 with a 13-yard rush and a personal foul advanced Clarion into the red zone. Clarion later scored on a five-yard touchdown run with 29 seconds left before an unsuccessful two-point pass attempt, 21-19.
