INDIANA, Pa. (April 18) – Freshman
Ryan Schleicher (Pittsburgh, Pa./Baldwin) improved upon his NCAA qualifying mark in the javelin to help lead the California University of Pennsylvania men's track & field to a season-best second-place finish on Saturday at the Ed Fry Invitational, hosted by Indiana University of Pennsylvania.
The Vulcans finished second in the 12-team team standings with 103 points, edging out Grove City College (102). The host Crimson Hawks earned the invitational title with 158 points.
Schleicher posted a throw of 201-07 feet in the javelin to finish second at IUP. His distance was the top mark by any Division II competitor in the 25-member field. Schleicher is the top-ranked freshman javelin thrower in the country and ranks ninth overall on the national performance list.

Chuck Kacsur III (Boiling Springs, Pa./Carlisle) finished first with a time of 3 minutes, 23.19 seconds, winning the event by almost two seconds.
Ehrensberger and Wilson were also members of the 4x100-meter relay team that placed second in 42.45 seconds. The relay team of junior
Dennis Cole (Washington, Pa./Canon-McMillan), Wilson, Ehrensberger and junior
Terrence Johnson (Braddock, Pa./Woodland Hills) finished in 42.45 seconds.
Ehrensberger captured first place in the 400-meter dash with a time of 48.55 seconds and finished second in the 200-meter dash, crossing the finish line in 21.87 seconds.
Wilson finished third in the 400 meters with a time of 51.14 seconds, while Cole posted a time of 22.83 seconds in the 200 meters to finish third.
In the 100-meter dash, Cole and Johnson posted back-to-back finishes. Cole ran a time of 11.03 seconds to finish second, while Johnson placed third in 11.11 seconds.
Kacsur finished fifth in the 800-meter run, crossing the finish line in 1:54.98, while freshman
Tim Lahmers (Delmont, Pa./Franklin Regional) posted a fourth-place finish in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 16:45.90.
Junior
Nate Payne (Pittsburgh, Pa./Keystone Oaks) placed fourth in the long jump with a leap of 6.73 meters.
