Cal U trio competes at Stanford Invitational

PALO ALTO, Calif. (Mar. 28) – Three student-athletes from the California University of Pennsylvania track & field teams competed at the Stanford University Invitational on Saturday.

Senior Danielle Malay (Bethel Park, Pa./Bethel Park) competed in the 400-meter hurdles, which featured 24 competitors. The All-American finished eighth in her section and No. 12 overall with a time of 64.41 seconds.

Graduate student Chuck Kacsur III (Boiling Springs, Pa./Carlisle) finished eighth in his section of the 800-meter run with a time of 1 minute, 53.88 seconds - the top PSAC time so far in the outdoor season. The event featured four sections and 35 runners.

Fellow graduate student Christopher Clark (Hadley, Pa./Commodore Perry) rounded out the Vulcan trio at the Stanford Invitational, competing in the 10,000-meter run. The three-time All-American crossed the finish line No. 20 overall in 29:44.45, the top PSAC time so far in the outdoor season. With his performance, Clark earned an automatic qualifier for the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships.

The Stanford Invitational featured student-athletes from Division I schools across the nation, including UCLA, Georgetown, Arkansas, Cornell, Oklahoma and Notre Dame.

The Cal U track & field team returns to action on Saturday, April 4, when it hosts the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) West Challenge at Adamson Stadium.
