HOUSTON (March 14) – California University of Pennsylvania sophomore
Brice Myers (Erie, Pa./McDowell) earned All-America honors on Saturday after posting the third-fastest time in the finals of the 60-meter hurdles at the NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field Championships, hosted at the Yeoman Field House on the campus of the University of Houston.
Myers posted a time of 8.12 seconds in the finals of the NCAA Championships, finishing only two tenths of a second behind the individual champion (7.92 seconds; Andrew McDowell – Abilene Christian University). In the preliminaries on Friday, Myers edged Rusty Smith of East Stroudsburg University by three thousandths of a second for second place with a time of 8.075 seconds.
Two weeks ago at the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Championships, Myers and Smith posted a tremendous 1-2 finish in the 55-meter hurdles as the two were separated by only five thousandths of a second.
Myers accounted for the Vulcans six points at the NCAA Championships. St Augustine's College (N.C.) captured its fourth-straight national championship with 105 points, while Adams State College (Col.) finished second in the team standings with 80 points.
