Cal U competes at SRU Invitational

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. (Feb. 6) – The Vulcans continued their indoor season at the Slippery Rock University Invitational on Friday at the Morrow Field House with a win in the 4x400-meter relay highlighting the performance.

The California University of Pennsylvania 4x400 relay team of freshman Vince Wilson (Bear, Del./Middletown), freshman Alex Smith (South Park, Pa./South Park), sophomore Nick Messina (Cheswick, Pa./Springdale) and junior Frank Ehrensberger (Saint Marys, Pa./Elk County Christian) won the six-team event a time of 3 minutes, 30.83 seconds.

Ehrensberger finished second overall in the 800-meter run, crossing the finish line in 2:02.37. He finished behind only graduate student Christopher Clark (Hadley, Pa./Commodore Perry), who ran unattached with a time of 2:00.73. Clark also earned an unattached victory in the 1600-meter run with a time of 9:16.06.

Junior Terrence Johnson (Braddock, Pa./Woodland Hills), who earned Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) West Track Athlete of the Week last month, finished first among Division II runners and second overall in the 55-meter dash with a time of 6.58 seconds. Johnson added a third-place finish in the 200-meter dash with a time of 23.66 seconds.

Fellow junior Dennis Cole (Washington, Pa./Canon-McMillan) finished fourth in 55 meters in 6.71 seconds, while senior Dadre Williams (Pittsburgh, Pa./Penn Hills) ran unattached in the 200 meters and placed fourth overall with a time of 24.07 seconds.

The Vulcans return to action on Saturday, Jan. 14, when they travel to Boston, Mass., and compete in the Valentine Invitational.
