As Cal U's first softball All-American, Stacy Eppinger left an indelible mark on the most successful decade of Lady Vulcan softball. Eppinger attained this status through an obvious commitment to excellence. Throughout this 1992 All-American season, her batting average was .402 with 53 hits in 132 at bats. Eppinger also led the team with 38 RBIs and scored 31 runs while earning this honor. She hit 22 career home runs with 165 RBI and had a sizzling .383 career batting average. Eppinger's single-season batting averages were .424, .372, .402 and .353.

The All-American achievement may have been Eppinger's most notable but certainly not the only one throughout her career at Cal U. She started at third base from her freshman year in 1990 to her senior year in 1993. She helped the Lady Vulcans make their first-ever NCAA appearance in 1990. While only a sophomore in 1991, Eppinger helped the Lady Vulcans to achieve their illustrious 47-11 record. This feat provided California with its first ever PSAC women's title in any women's sport. Because of the talent that Eppinger possessed, she was named all-region for four consecutive years and also earned all-conference honors three times.

As a freshman member of the starting lineup, it is no surprise that Eppinger's expertise in softball was shaped during her high school career. She grew up in Pittsburgh and attended Penn Hills High School where she graduated in 1989. While a junior and senior member of the softball team, Eppinger was named to the WPIAL's Top 10 list. In addition, her final two summers prior to college were spent traveling the country with the Pittsburgh Patriots women's softball team. Graduating in 1993 with a bachelor's degree in psychology, she works in Pittsburgh as a director of a group home for mentally-ill adults.
