A larger-than-life individual with a genuinely unique personality, Eric Kush becomes the first offensive lineman selected to the Athletic Hall of Fame in a decade. He started at multiple positions throughout his career with the Vulcans from 2008-12.
Kush obtained a medical redshirt as a true freshman before helping the Vulcans capture a third-straight regional title in 2009 while playing as a reserve and on special teams. The following year, he started nine games at left tackle as Cal clinched a share of the PSAC West title and made a fourth-straight appearance in the NCAA Playoffs. Kush transitioned to center as a junior in 2011 while the Vulcans posted double-digit victories for the fifth-consecutive year. Cal also advanced to the second round of the NCAA Playoffs in the last season under head coach John Luckhardt. As a senior, the Chartiers Valley product earned All-PSAC West First-Team laurels in his second year as the starting center. Kush earned all-region honors from multiple organizations and was selected to compete at the East-Shrine Game.
In April 2013, he was chosen by the Kansas City Chiefs in the sixth round of the NFL Draft. Kush played in three games with the Chiefs during his rookie campaign and later signed with four teams in the 2015 season, playing seven games with the St. Louis Rams. The following year, he made four starts and played eight games with the Chicago Bears before missing the 2017 season due to injury. Kush returned to the field the following year and made seven starts while playing 15 games. He then signed with the Cleveland Browns for the 2019 campaign and played all 16 games and made seven starts. Kush spent time in the preseason with the Oakland Raiders in 2020 before playing one game with the Bears midway through the year. In the spring of 2020, he was chosen to the D2Football.com All-Decade Second-Team for the 2010s.
Kush completed his bachelor’s degree in justice studies with a concentration in forensic science in 2012.
