CALIFORNIA (Dec. 10) – The California University of Pennsylvania tennis team recently volunteered at the Glen Creek Tennis Club in South Park, Pennsylvania.
The event was open to all members of the community and was designed to help teach and mentor high school student-athletes who are considering playing college tennis. Members from the Cal U tennis team took time out of their day to assist junior tennis players with their skills and offer advice on what it takes to play tennis at the collegiate level.
"Only about two percent of high school tennis players will go on to play college tennis and it was rewarding to see our players help answer a lot of questions and concerns," said head coach
Pablo Montana. "We also play a lot of our home matches here at Glen Creek and it was nice to see our players engage with the junior tennis players that will come out in the spring and support us."
The Cal U tennis team strives to partake in at least one community service project each month throughout the academic year. During the fall semester, the Vulcans have volunteered at Center in the Woods, organized a community tennis social, as well as helped run and organize a wheelchair donation program.
